Social Media… what it’s all about
The evolution that is known as Social Media, has taken the internet world to new levels in the way it allows communities to communicate between themselves and the wider audience. It’s popularity has exceeded the visions of even the giants in Silicon Valley, with statistics where the word “millions” is common place. Facebook has over 400 million users, Twitter has over 100 million and is still growing faster that I can write this article. Not to mention the other social media sites whose communities are growing steadily.
Do you wonder what all the commotion is about? Or do you find yourself spending hours on end on these websites and not achieving anything at all? I’m sure there comes a point where you think – is it all worth it? Well to be honest, the answer is a resounding Yes. Why – well fundamentally these are the three key main reasons:
- Knowledge and Learning. We never stop learning. To move on in business, in life, we need to self-educate to improve our skills and expertise.
- Engage with new people. It’s great to meet new people, and even better to meet new people from a different demographic online. Friendships are created, relationships are built and business ideas are brought together.
- We become important and confident in our ability to convey our message to our audience. We all have a voice and this gives us the opportunity to offer our opinion and expertise in a way like there has never been before.
The growth of the internet has seen many people revert to working from home, which whilst practical can also be lonely. These social media sites offer an opportunity to be part of the wider community sharing your stories and experience with like minded people, and giving you the confidence to communicate effectively. It also enables you to promote You, Your brand, and Your Products. Just imagine having the opportunity to get your product in front of millions of people! Well, through careful use of these social media sites, it has all become possible.
